Vice President of Operations

Compensation: $75,000-80,000


The Vice President of Operations provides oversight, leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that Emmanuel Family & Child Development Center has the proper operational processes, accreditation and regulatory accountability, and ongoing staff development necessary to safely and effectively provide nurturing and educational early childhood programs.


Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management over the organization including helping establish policy and procedures that reflect the mission and core values of Emmanuel Family & Child Development Center.
  • Manage all Staff.
  • Manage Child/staff ratios.
  • Work with the Enrollment Specialist to ensure enrollment is at capacity and funding is being paid for the child in attendance.
  • Spot check classroom attendance weekly, meet with area directors to discuss children missing school.
  • Work with area Directors and Education Coordinators to ensure staff are upholding the policy and procedures of Emmanuel and obtaining their required educational training and schooling.
  • Handle all parent concerns and provide a plan of action to support the center and the family.
  • Work with area directors to support children with high behaviors and assist with action plans.
  • This position has direct supervisory responsibility for care/education supervisors, area directors and non-direct staff, with overall accountability for activities related to all care/education staff and the day-to-day operations of the organization.


Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in early childhood education or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive responsibility in direct child/parent interface, including supervision/management within early childhood setting(s).
  • Knowledge of Missouri Accreditation as well as Head Start and Early Head Start Standards, with demonstrated ability to meet or exceed these requirements.
  • Experience in urban, nonprofit settings is an advantage.
  • Skilled in organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource management and strategic planning.
  • Process improvement and quality assurance training and/or certifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to positively and effectively relate to parents/guardians, children and employed colleagues. Communication and interactions to be reliable and respectful in order to foster optimal coordination and innovation. The Emmanuel COD will also demonstrate ability to listen well, in order to facilitate effective conflict management.
  • Ability to partner within a dynamic leadership team, to anticipate client needs and exceed their expectations. Flexible and creative problem-solver able to multi-task within a fast-moving environment; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding people.

Fund Development Officer

Kansas City, MO

Compensation: $65,000-75,000


Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive all fund development functions for the organization- including writing grants, securing individual, foundation and corporate gifts, creating/executing an annual event, grant reporting.
  • Work to refine donor communications and database process and systems.
  • Research and identify new, potential funding sources (foundation, corporate and government) and solicit support for ongoing programming, as well as new initiatives.
  • Research, write, secure and track grants from external funders.
  • Publicize the organization through increased visibility, funding, and community engagement.
  • Assist with strategic planning to establish and implement a long-term calculated plan with measurable outcomes and goals to ensure progress towards long-term, strategic financial and operational goals.
  • Provide consistent and informative reporting to the Executive Director and Board on the effectiveness of fundraising activities.
  • Lead planning, marketing and communications for EFCDC annual event along with other smaller scale events.
  • Develop strategies, policies and cultivate existing and new relationships, sources of support and funding.
  • Maintain ongoing schedule of funding and reporting deadlines and prepare and submit reports to various foundations, government, corporate, and individual donors.
  • Research and recommend a software system to ensure a seamless process.
  • Facilitate center tours.
  • Create and present fundraising reports and fundraising forecast at Board Meetings.
  • Identify and secure donors.
  • Track donations, manage donor databases and pull reports as necessary.
  • Create fundraising communication materials for external fundraising needs.
  • Manage and recruit volunteers, maintain a strong volunteer base and create a volunteer tracking system.
  • Promote the organization through social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
  • Other duties, as assigned by the Executive Director.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated fundraising success, particularly by securing individual and corporate gifts, grant writing, and engaging a community of motivated supporters to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Proven ability to create and strengthen operational efficiencies within a development program.
  • Reputation for the ability to collaborate with staff in a “hands-on” manner with the humility to be willing to take on any task at any time.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, develop plans, and maximize potential resources/relationships.
  • Highly effective interpersonal, public speaking, written and verbal communication skills. Must offer grant writing experience.
  • Commitment and passion for the Emmanuel Family & Child Development Center mission.
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directed leadership style.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds, including high level public and private sector officials.
  • Passion for education and serving socio-economically disadvantaged youth.
  • Comfortable managing all aspects of the fundraising process.
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated.
  • Ability to handle multiple, concurrent and high priority tasks.
  • Strong problem solving and group work leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and database software.
  • Master’s degree required.
